Our 2022 Grants

We made grants for £10,000 from our community fund for projects to be run in 2022.

This was the fifth set of grants to local charities made from the proceeds of our energy generation.

Children and Families

£4,000

To enable the Sheerness-based charity to deliver its Renewables Roadshow across the Isle of Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Faversham to tackle fuel poverty and climate change by helping local families in Swale to go greener and save money.

Plantlife

£3,500

For the project People Need Nature to improve public access to woodlands within Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve near Strood in Medway, including for disabled visitors, and to improve the environment for the woodland plants.

Ranscombe Farm Nature Reserve already receives some 80,000 visits per year which increased to 130,000 per year during the COVID19 lockdowns and this project will make it easier for new and existing visitors to access this part of the reserve.

Slough Fort Preservation Trust

£2,500

To support the volunteer-led development of a richer wildlife habitat at Slough Fort to benefit the community of Allhallows and surrounding villages near Rochester in Medway.

The grant will help to fund the planting of wildflower meadows, hedgerows and trees as well as creating new footpaths.

This intergenerational project will involve local primary school children alongside other residents.
