Swale environmental project boosted by grant from local community energy profits

Orchard Community Energy, the local non-profit energy generator for Swale and Medway, has announced its 2022 support for local good causes. The grants are funded by the profits from Orchard Community Energy’s local community-owned solar farm.

The largest grant of £4,000 has gone to Children and Families (C&F) based in Sheerness. The charity will use it to deliver its Renewables Roadshow across the Isle of Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Faversham to tackle fuel poverty and climate change by helping local families to go greener and save money.

Penny Shepherd MBE, Chair, Orchard Community Energy said “We are delighted that our locally generated clean energy is funding these valuable projects to make life better for local people and the environment”.
